Scott West LA music blog interview and Still Show

Cloud Cult painter and band member, Scott West has been painting like a madman in his home studio during the break from tour. I stayed with him for several day after the West Coast leg, to do a bunch of promo-shots for his first solo gallery coming up called, Still.  The show is at Tarnish and Gold in Minneapolis on November 11th, and you can catch all the details right here on Scott’s website at Sean Neary’s band The Wapsipinicon will also be playing for the occasion, so don’t miss out.

Scott’s show is going to be incredible. He’ll be painting live during the show, and will be changing out the paintings while the show is up. To get a better understanding of what his shows all about, check out this great interview he just had with the LA Music Blog here. Scott talks about what Still is all about, along with answering questions about how he goes about creating and accomplishing large paintings during live Cloud Cult shows. Cloud Cult played 4 songs off the new album, “Light Chasers” which included, “Unexplainable Stories”, “Today We Give Ourselves To The Fire”, “Running WIth The Wolves” and “There’s So Much Energy In Us”. During the radio show, KEXP had a film crew inside the studio that was filming them play for the KEXP website. They just released the videos and sent them over a few days ago and I’ve embedded them below. Check em out! -Cody York

9/26 That’s a wrap for the West Coast tour…East Coast next!

Alright, so the West Coast tour has officially come to an end. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I haven’t had a chance to get anything up since our final show at the Roxy, because we’ve been doing a lot of driving. The day after the LA show, most of the band members flew home to Minneapolis, while Shawn, Arlen and I started making the long trek back driving back with the van. We made a fun and venturous stop in Salt Lake City, Utah to visit one of Shawn’s college friends. We did some hiking, saw some moose and cooked pancakes on a mountain top! From there we drove a straight 24hrs. to Shawn’s parents house in Des Moines, Iowa, where we’re currently getting some much needed rest. Now that I have a minute, stay tuned while I dig up some photos from the last show, the past couple days. I also wanted to mention, that between our down time before we kick off the East Coast tour dates, I’ll also be continuing to add to blog, so be sure to follow us to stay in the loop.

In LA at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood tonight!!!

We just pulled to the Roxy Theatre on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood! The band is about to start sound check and I just wanted to say, if you’re in the area, don’t miss out on our last show of our West coast tour! Doors at 7:30, for more information check out the Roxy website.
